BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND: Career Services Pre-Conference Program

The Executive MBA Council is repeating its Career Services Pre-Conference Program, which made its debut at the 2010 EMBA Council Conference.

Explore new ways to enhance your career management services through this half-day session, Building and Enhancing EMBA Career Management Programs: Marketing a Competitive Advantage, which takes place from 8 AM (with a continental breakfast that starts at 7:30 AM) to 11:45 PM on Sunday, Oct. 16. Lunch will be served from noon-1 PM.

Lead by two experienced managers of Executive MBA career services, the session will focus on methods of building and enhancing career management services within Executive MBA Programs, particularly though the use of no- and low-cost career services resources, tools, and methods. This session is especially designed for EMBA Program directors and/or EMBA career services staff members who are fairly new in their roles.

The program will help participants:

  • Target and direct services to reflect the different goals of students

  • Understand the diversity of potential structures and formats of Executive MBA career management programs

  • Enhance service options, such as career/executive coaching, workshops and seminars, webinars and distance outreach, and campus recruiting access opportunities, which address the many different goals and career plans of Executive MBA students

  • Learn about different approaches for promoting career management service options to current and prospective Executive MBA students

John Worth, director of Alumni and Executive MBA Career Development at the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School, and Susan Dearing, director, ProMBA Career Management Center and Executive MBA career coach at the University of California at Los Angeles Anderson School of Management, lead the pre-conference program.

The program fee is $195 per person and includes a continental breakfast and lunch. To register, just check the box for Building and Enhancing EMBA Career Management Programs: Marketing a Competitive Advantage on the registration form. Please note that the material covered in this session will be a repeat of the session offered at last year’s conference.
