Council
approves new members
In February,
the Executive MBA Council Board
of Trustees approved the membership
applications of two new schools:
The University of Tampa and
WHU.
Tampa
regional meeting attracts 50
participants
Held Feb. 29-March
2, the first 2004 regional meeting
at the University of Tampa attracted
50 participants from 25 schools,
as well corporate member ACDI–Advanced
Career Development Inc. and
one strategic partner GMAC.
The meeting featured:
- A panel of four corporate
human resources executives,
who discussed the ways that
Executive MBA Programs can
best satisfy their needs
- A presentation by Bill Judge
from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville
on admission trends in the
Southeast
- A panel discussion by five
alumni from schools in the
Southeast
- Two additional panels,
one on branding and the other
on the effective use of web
sites
Host schools included the:
- University of Tampa
- University of Central Florida
- University of South Florida
- University of Florida
- Florida International University
- Rollins College

Gary
Selden named faculty advisor
for Strategic Leadership Residency
After a thorough national search
and evaluation of candidates
by independent sources, the
Executive MBA Council named
Gary Selden, associate professor
of marketing and professional
sales at Kennesaw State University,
faculty advisor for the council’s
Certification for Executive
MBA Administrators (CEMA) Strategic
Leadership Residency (SLR) Program.
Selden resigned from the council’s
Board of Trustees to assume
this new position. A certification
requirement, the SLR Program
will focus on high-level academic
strategy development, management
competencies, project development,
and leadership in higher education.
The first SLR Program will be
held June 5-10, 2004.
Selden received his Ph.D. in
adult education and human resource
development from the University
of Georgia and an MBA in marketing
and healthcare marketing from
Kennesaw State University. He
has more than 15 years of experience
in higher education and 10 years
in the Executive MBA field as
a director and faculty member.
