Advance your career by completing your CEMA credential.

In fall 2003, the Executive MBA Council launched the Certification for Executive MBA Administrators (CEMA), a professional designation for Executive MBA administrators. Interested in moving your career forward?

CEMA can help in a number of ways. Here’s quick look at its benefits and key steps:

Q: What will I gain by completing the CEMA credential?
A: You can achieve several aims by pursuing the CEMA credential:

  • Increase your knowledge base and improve your on-the-job performance
  • Bolster your value to your school
  • Participate in raising industry standards, practices, and ethics
  • Contribute to advancing Executive MBA management

Q: Who should work toward the CEMA designation?
A: You should consider applying for the credential if you have:

  • At least three years of experience in the Executive MBA industry
  • Attended at least two Executive MBA Council conferences
  • Completed the Executive MBA Toolkit and the Marketing and Admissions course or have gained comparable experience on the job

Q: I'm interested. What do I need to do?
A: To receive the CEMA credential, you must complete:

  • An application, available at http://www.emba.org/courseofferings.htm.
  • Pre-residency assignments.
  • A five-day Strategic Leadership Residency (SLR) with top-level faculty, tentatively scheduled for June 5-10, 2004; Thomson South-Western co-sponsors the SLR.
  • An action project that you begin at the residency and then conduct online with a study team.
  • A two-day post course scheduled just before the Executive MBA Conference in October 2004.

Q: What does it cost?
A: Costs include a $250 (U.S.) application fee and a fee of $2,500 (U.S.) for the SLR.

Learn more about teaching Executive MBA students.

Executive MBA students demand the best from their teachers. The Executive MBA Council workshop, Teaching Effectiveness for Faculty, offers faculty members — whether they are academic newcomers, seasoned veterans, or somewhere in between — an opportunity to improve their skills in leading Executive MBA classrooms.

Dr. Harvey Brightman, retired Regents' Professor of Decision Sciences at Georgia State University, teaches the workshop. Recipient of numerous teaching and service awards, Brightman has trained more than 500 faculty members. The workshop covers:

  • Discovery learning techniques.
  • Presentation clarity.
  • Course design and objectives.

You can schedule the workshop on your own campus for a full day to two-and-a-half days. For more information or to arrange a workshop, contact:
