The Details

Participation in the Executive MBA Program Survey offers benefits and supports the industry as a whole. Why? How does it work? This Q&A supplies some answers.

Why offer a Program Survey?

Members, students, business representatives, journalists, and others turn to the council for information about Executive MBA Programs.

Through its Program Survey, the council is able to share an overview of Executive MBA Programs and monitor trends over the years. Member programs receive data that helps them compare their efforts against peers, make improvements, and measure the success of those improvements.

Is it confidential?

Yes, the information that programs provide remains confidential. The council only presents aggregate information.

What do you receive?

The Executive MBA Council offers three types of reports: standard, peer, and regional. You will receive the standard report free as a benefit of your membership and participation in the Program Survey.

The standard report displays trended aggregate data of all participating schools along with segmentation by program cost, North American programs compared to non-North American programs, and public versus private programs. The standard and regional reports do not display your individual program data.

The peer report allows you to select six programs as a peer composite group for benchmarking to your program. You can choose different peers for each program. The peer report displays your program-specific data compared to the peer composite. Your program-specific data will never be displayed to other members – only composite (aggregated) data are displayed to protect confidentiality.

The regional report includes all questions in the survey segmented by the following regions:

Asia Midwest US + Canada
Canada Northeast US + Eastern Canada
Europe Southeast US
Middle East + Africa Texas + New Mexico
Latin America Western US + Canada
United States All Programs

What is the timing?

Each year, the council sends a reminder to the primary contacts of member programs. The reminder asks programs to complete the membership renewal process and update their Program Survey data by early summer.

Member schools can update their directory information anytime during the year through their portal.

Why is the online directory listing important?

The council web site receives approximately 335 web visitors per day and more than 85 percent of the visitors are prospective students. Most student visitors use the Visitor Search features to locate programs based on self-selected criteria in the Executive MBA Council Program Directory. The council sends referrals to its members if students request further information about programs.

What do you need to do?

It’s easy to complete the Program Survey and renew your council membership:

Step 1
Visit your portal, available online at the council web site

Step 2
Download a printed copy of your directory listing before completing your survey so you have a copy of all information; the survey’s first page allows you to download a copy of your listing in MS Word

Step 3
Review the information that you submitted for the Program Survey

Step 4
Update the information and answer new questions on faculty, classroom technology, student services, and international trips; you will be able to review and update all program listings for your school

What are the fees?

You pay only to renew your council membership, for additional listings, or additional reports.

By participating, you will receive a free copy of the Program Survey standard report and one free listing in the Executive MBA Council Program Directory, available online, for your flagship program. You will also have the option of listing your other programs at a cost of $325 for each additional program, or receiving an optional peer report at a cost of $325, and/or an additional regional report at a cost of $350.

Peer reports include all segments listed for the aggregate report, as well as individual program results and customized comparison peer groups. The regional report includes all region segments, as well as three-year trending of the regions. Fees for these reports are billed directly to members this year.
